Electric vehicle flatbed towing addresses the specific requirement that most EVs cannot be towed on their wheels, since doing so can spin the electric motors and generate damaging voltage or draw down the battery in ways manufacturers explicitly warn against. Flatbed transport is the standard, manufacturer-recommended method for essentially all electric vehicles currently on the road.
You need this any time an EV breaks down, runs out of charge in a location without nearby charging, or otherwise needs to be moved and can't be driven under its own power. This includes running out of range on a trip, a mechanical or electrical fault unrelated to the battery, or a collision that's left the vehicle undriveable but still needing safe transport to a shop or charging location.
We dispatch flatbed equipment for EV towing as standard practice, since this is the manufacturer-recommended method across virtually every electric vehicle on the market. We load the vehicle onto the flatbed deck, taking care with how it's secured given the different weight distribution EVs typically have compared to combustion vehicles, with battery packs usually located low and centered in the chassis. We avoid any towing method that would turn the wheels, since even short-distance wheel-lift towing can risk damage to an EV's drive motors. For vehicles that have run out of charge, we can coordinate delivery to the nearest appropriate charging location if that's more useful than a repair shop.
Cost is generally comparable to standard flatbed towing, with distance as the primary factor, though proper EV handling knowledge is part of what you're getting with an experienced provider. EV owners in West College Corner, IN running low on range in unfamiliar areas benefit from having a dispatcher who already understands proper EV towing requirements.
